​Who We Are

From Prison to Promise is a Virginia based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to provide a support system for those who have been affected by incarceration, reduce/eliminate the school-to-prison pipeline, and act as a voice for those who feel silenced by their trauma. Our vision is to partner with the community and peers affected by incarceration to provide a foundation for an independent society through public service.

​Our Founder

​Sonya Chiles was born and raised in Richmond, VA. Her inspiration for her organization came from years of prison advocacy and mentoring families that were affected by incarceration and trauma. She has a passion for people and believes in meeting them where they are in life. 

Since founding the organization in 2018, Sonya has dedicated herself to forming partnerships with like-minded individuals to further the mission of the organization. She is also a registered CPRS, FPRS, ToT, REVIVE Trainer and currently awaiting approval for Narcan distribution.
